Location

Lower Largo is a village in Fife, Scotland situated on Largo Bay on the north side of the Firth of Forth. The Crusoe sits in an area known as the East Neuk of Fife.

If you wish to view the area you can click on The Crusoe's Google Map.

An ancient fishing village, Lower Largo has gained fame as the 1676 birthplace of Alexander Selkirk, the inspiration for Daniel Defoe's Robinson Crusoe.

The arrival of the railway in 1856 brought many tourists to Lower Largo's sandy beach. Lower Largo has retained many historic buildings, and in 1978 it was designated as a conservation area.

The M90 and A92 regional road provide quick access to the splendid situation of The Crusoe Hotel and the many mysteries of the ancient Kingdom of Fife. Lower Largo is just over 30 minutes drive from Edinburgh Airport and 45 minutes from Edinburgh City centre and only a fifteen minute drive from St Andrews. Glenrothes, Kirkcaldy and Leven are conveniently close for the business traveller and Dundee is well within reach over the Tay Bridge.

Fife is just north of Edinburgh and you will cross the River Forth on either the Forth Rail or Forth Road Bridge en route to or from the capital.

It's location makes The Crusoe Hotel ideal for short breaks and golfing holidays with an abundance of golf courses and attractions within a twenty minute drive.
